Get the Flexibility You Need in a Dynamic Environment

Collection needs fluctuate—so you need flexibility. The Trima Accel system streamlines the collection of any transfusable component in any combination. It is the only apheresis system on the market today with the versatility blood centers need for full-spectrum component combinations—helping you to meet your collection goals with a single device. This flexibility and agility have helped make the Trima Accel system one of the world’s leading apheresis devices.

Pair the device with powerful software options designed to match component needs and optimize collections, helping you do more with less.

Simple, Efficient Collections and Higher-Quality Components
  • Simplifies Collections
  • Use a single device to collect any transfusable component, in any combination, from a wide range of donors
  • Reduce the need for training and the number of standard operating procedures
  • Target the blood types you need most
  • Maximize donations from every donor
  • Respond quickly and easily to fluctuations in demand for specific products

Collects Higher-Quality Blood Components

  • Reduce the likelihood of bacterial contamination of platelet products: Collecting platelets with a single-stage separation device has been credited with reducing the likelihood of bacterial contamination, a primary risk for recipients of platelet transfusions in the U.S According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), 1 in 1,000 to 3,000 platelet units is contaminated with bacteria, and bacterial contamination is the second most common cause of transfusion-related deaths in the U.S.
  • Improve corrected count increments A recent retrospective analysis of transfusion outcomes credits single-stage separation with higher corrected count increments, as compared to platelets collected using dual-stage separation.

Saves Time

  • Easy setup
  • Guided use helps operators spend more time with donors and less time with equipment
  • In-process leukoreduction for ready-to-transfuse products has these labor-saving benefits:

    • Maximum blood center efficiency
    • Potential for increased staff utilization
  • Faster platelet procedure run times as compared to competitors may improve scheduling and donor satisfaction
  • Comprehensive product support: we are here to help if you need it
  • Robust software solutions to help meet your challenges and goals: increase efficiency, improve traceability, simplify troubleshooting, reduce downtime

Keeps Donors Safe

  • The intelligent Safety Box helps ensure donor safety and promote operator confidence
  • Donors spend less time in the chair, with 25 to 40 percent shorter procedure times than comparable apheresis devices
  • Donor discomfort is reduced and the donation experience is improved with single-needle procedures
The Trima Accel System
Helps Enhance Blood Safety in Rwanda

How It Works

The Trima Accel system is an apheresis collection device that uses a centrifuge to separate whole blood into its components—platelets, plasma and red blood cells (RBCs). Blood components are quickly and efficiently separated by density and size, then the targeted components are collected and the remaining components are safely returned to the donor.

The Trima Accel system collects the targeted component(s) based on two important criteria:

1. The components you need to collect to meet demand, based on your configured priorities

2. What each donor is able to safely donate, based on his or her physiology and cell count
The system includes the Trima Accel device, a variety of tubing sets and system software.

Meet Your Needs With Flexible Configurations

To help you meet your blood center’s collection goals, you can configure desired product volumes, yields and combinations. In addition, you can ensure that final products meet specifications by calibrating the device to your blood center’s cell counter.

Enjoy Simple and Safe Operation
  • Step-by-step procedure prompts and a sophisticated touch screen graphical user interface guide operators confidently through a variety of collections
  • Safety is built into each collection with the patented Safety Box, combining flexibility with the safety you need. Set maximum volume, minimum platelet post-count and post-hematocrit, and maximum procedure time to meet your center’s needs—always within safe limits
  • Donor qualification could not be easier—the system is programmed to offer a range of component donations that each donor can safely provide
  • Software helps manage your process, reducing paperwork and simplifying record-keeping
  • Software creates visibility into your operations, providing the actionable data you need to make informed decisions
